Why you should set goals?

 goals2

“A goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at. “ Quoted by Bruce Lee

Wonder why some people could not even achieve an inch of what they dream of becoming? Blame it on pure dreaming and lack of setting goals for achieving their dreams.

Setting goals is a very significant part of success and positive accomplishments. It is like scaling a 20 feet building and marking early on what feet you would like to reach at this specific period.

People who set goals literally create a map of their target achievements in life, marking where they should begin, where to pause, where to delve a bit, and where and when to stop. Once this map is created, it allows the map drawer to check where he is in the scheme of things and whether or not he is making some achievements that will take him closer to his goals.

By setting goals, people will know how they are doing and what they should be doing to achieve their targets or dreams in life. They will know if they can relax or if they have to double their efforts when they are falling short of what is expected of them.

Goal setting means a person is proactive in dealing with challenges that may affect his plans. Being proactive means one is able to outline possible difficulties that may occur as well as the solutions to these difficulties. By doing this, a person is not easily scared or defeated when challenges occur because he has already prepared for them. He knows they can happen and he has prepared a solution or strategy when that time comes.

Setting goals will enable people to track their progress in whatever endeavor they have set out to do. It will help people become more confident in themselves and more motivated to achieve their plans.

However, goal setting is not enough, as this should be accompanied by a positive outlook and self-discipline. A person may have a blueprint of where he wants to go, but if he does not have the necessary discipline to carry out the plan, then nothing will come out of it.

To be successful in goal setting, the goals that one has set for himself should be realistic and based on his capabilities, as well as selected and important external factors. Being too ambitious in setting up goals can make the goals unrealistic and difficult to achieve. However, do not also set goals that are too low because this might discourage one’s vision instead of achieving it.

It is also necessary that the person setting the blueprint for his direction should also include a time frame within which the goal will be achieved. This way, he is able to determine if he has to fast track his strategies or to slow down a bit. Goal setting will also help a person check if he is performing within his plans or if he is doing things towards the achievement of his plans.

Once you have achieved something, even a little of what you hoped to achieve, then you should always give yourself a pat in the back to keep you motivated. But do not be too complacent with any little achievement, as this may cause you to backslide.

Setting goals can be used in any aspect of one’s life – from one’s personal or family life, to his career and finances.  Goal setting can be as simple as setting a target weight when you wish to lose pounds or something big, like earning your first million.

When setting goals, it is always important to set standards that would suit your present situation, your capabilities, and other factors that may influence the achievement of your goal.

Setting goals in the bible

1. Nehemiah had a clear mission with specific steps tacked to a definite target date (Nehemiah 2:5, 6). and I answered the king, “If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my ancestors are buried so that I can rebuild it.”

Then the king , with the queen sitting beside him, asked me, “How long will your journey take, and when will you get back?” It pleased the king to send me; so I set a time.

He was in command of the facts, he analyzed the situation and make decisions, he has set his objective, and handle all the responsibility, he had initiative, and very proactive.

He had developed the personal skills to succeed. He was sensitive to the events around him. He had excellent people skills and abilities. He was all about achieving goals!

Influence is contextual

Influence is contextual!! Someone writes a post. Someone else share it or retweets it. Another person sees the retweet, reads the post, and writes a comment. Still another person finds the post on his own and then follows the commenter’s advice, to the benefit of hundreds of others. Each person took an action. Each action had an effect. But which action is the most important? Who had the most influence? I read this some times last week.

Is there a solution for every problem?

Is there a solution for every problem? Is there a problem for every solution? Is every problem really a problem?

Problems, problems, problems, wow I’m fed-up…. We think certain problem can’t be solved. That’s why we think of consulting to consultants, therapists, and counselors. To solve a problem a helpful strategy is Logical reasoning but how is that? Lets read this.

“The Bible teaching about problem solving teaches that evaluation is necessary. It makes sense, doesn’t it? How will we ever know if the problem is solved if we do not investigate? Let us acquire Nehemiah Problem Solving Skills. “

The Bible teaching about problem solving indicates the need for a careful plan. In this step you must determine a definite goal and identify the specific steps to reach the goal. Answer the questions such as, “What are the actions to take, and when, how and where will the action take place. Who will be involved? How can the chosen solution best be translated into action? How can I get the resources? What is the time schedule?”

From Nehemiah 2:6 and onward, you can study the story of how Nehemiah carefully put together a plan, overcome challenges, made modifications, and achieved his goal. We must plan our work, and work our plan – just like he did.

The writer of Proverbs said, “The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage, but everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty” (Proverbs 21:5).

More than One Way to Skin a Cat: Creative Thinking Adventures

How many times have you caught yourself saying that there could be no other solution to a problem – and that that problem leads to a dead end? How many times have you felt stumped knowing that the problem laying before you is one you cannot solve. No leads. No options. No solutions.

Did it feel like you had exhausted all possible options and yet are still before the mountain – large, unconquerable, and impregnable? When encountering such enormous problems, you may feel like you’re hammering against a steel mountain. the pressure of having to solve such a problem may be overwhelming.

But rejoice! There might be some hope yet!

With some creative problem-solving techniques you may be able to look at your problem in a different light. And that light might just be the end of the tunnel that leads to possible solutions.

First of all, in the light of creative problem-solving, you must be open-minded to the fact that there may be more than just one solution to the problem. And, you must be open to the fact that there may be solutions to problems you thought were unsolvable.

Now, with this optimistic mindset, we can try to be a little bit more creative in solving our problems.

Number one; maybe the reason we cannot solve our problems is that we have not really taken a hard look at what the problem is. Here, trying to understanding the problem and having a concrete understanding of its workings is integral solving the problem. If you know how it works, what the problem is, then you have a better foundation towards solving the problem.

Not trying to make the simple statement of what problem is. Try to identify the participating entities and what their relationships with one another are. Take note of the things you stand to gain any stand to lose from the current problem. Now you have a simple statement of what the problem is.

Number two; try to take note of all of the constraints and assumptions you have the words of problem. Sometimes it is these assumptions that obstruct our view of possible solutions. You have to identify which assumptions are valid, in which assumptions need to be addressed.

Number three; try to solve the problem by parts. Solve it going from general view towards the more detailed parts of the problem. This is called the top-down approach. Write down the question, and then come up with a one-sentence solution to that from them. The solution should be a general statement of what will solve the problem. From here you can develop the solution further, and increase its complexity little by little.
Recommended video to watch:

Number four; although it helps to have critical thinking aboard as you solve a problem, you must also keep a creative, analytical voice at the back of your head. When someone comes up with a prospective solution, tried to think how you could make that solution work. Try to be creative. At the same time, look for chinks in the armor of that solution.

Number five; it pays to remember that there may be more than just one solution being developed at one time. Try to keep track of all the solutions and their developments. Remember, there may be more than just one solution to the problem.

Number six; remember that old adage,” two heads are better than one.” That one is truer than it sounds. Always be open to new ideas. You can only benefit from listening to all the ideas each person has. This is especially true when the person you’re talking to has had experience solving problems similar to yours.

You don’t have to be a gung-ho, solo hero to solve the problem. If you can organize collective thought on the subject, it would be much better.

Number seven; be patient. As long as you persevere, there is always a chance that a solution will present itself. Remember that no one was able to create an invention the first time around.

Creative thinking exercises can also help you in your quest be a more creative problems solver.

Here is one example.

Take a piece of paper and write any word that comes to mind at the center. Now look at that word then write the first two words that come to your mind. This can go on until you can build a tree of related words. This helps you build analogical skills, and fortify your creative processes.

So, next time you see a problem you think you can not solve, think again. The solution might just be staring you right in the face. All it takes is just a little creative thinking, some planning, and a whole lot of work.

Prayer is Needed

Nehemiah wrote that he, “sat down and wept and mourned for days; and I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven” (Nehemiah 1:4). Surely, in faith we must approach God for wisdom, direction, and strength (cf. James 1:5-6). In our humility, we need to capture God’s perspective on matters.

Can we really manipulate our destiny/fate?

Can we really manipulate our destiny/fate?

Controlling and manipulating your destiny is the surest way to land flat on your face. The key to living with your destiny is to avoid excessive worrying and try not to control it. In scarcity, there are times that  we act too harsh on ourselves. I’ll tell you be kind to yourself.  Search for help when you think you need it. And don’t try to hold back your suffering—feel it and live it so you can continue on doing things right, learn, and live a happier life. For everyone have a divine destiny with God! And we know it’s wonderful.

For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.-Jeremiah 29:11

Everyone’s futures are great! We know that, but the longer it takes that we see the victory take place, the more it hard for us to achieve it. To destine is to decide something beforehand. So your fate or destiny is what God has pre-ordained for your future. Your destiny is the plan and program of God for your life. God did not send you here on earth to mess around. Your destiny is what you have been called for. You’ve been born with the expectation of heaven for your life.

For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay.-Habakkuk 2:3

While waiting for our destiny to be fulfilled, we let other people thwart our destiny. So beware, manipulators are everywhere they are like vultures attempting to rob, kill, steal and destroy our destiny that God has in store for us..

The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.-John 10:10

So believe in the Holy Spirit who will help you battle against those people who would try to manipulate and control you, attempting to pick-pocket you towards what God has destined you to become.

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty… For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not  loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, … lovers of pleasure rather  than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. 2 Timothy 3:1-5

The Holy Spirit can Counsel us through specialist in the field of spiritual abuse and false manipulators. Do not hesitate to get special counseling from people who are specially trained in rescuing people from all type of abuse. God used Daniel because he was specially trained, educated and equipped to perform a particular task.

Young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king’s palace. He was to teach them the language and literature of the Babylonians. Daniels 1:4

Ask the Lord to lead you to specialist who had plenty of experiences.  Don’t reinvent the wheels, identify their “models” and observe their style and actions, do not copy them but learn from their experiences.~~jhmenor

List of the tips I gathered for Personal Development!!!

Author:Jaime H. Menor Jr.

You should  ask God first  before reading the list I gathered below, for God said in James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

1. Ask yourself, “How can I manipulate my fate/destiny?
2. Always keep your goals in mind as you start a new activity. If you do a lot of work with the calculator, run the machine with the hand you don’t use for writing.
3. Take time every day to do something for yourself.
4. Put up pictures of your dreams and goals where you will see them frequently. They will remind you and aid you in focusing and visualizing your goal.
5. When you have the option of reading a book or watching a video or audio version of the program. It will be more to the point and can be done while you are driving, jogging/walking, or getting other routine things done.
6. Develop a “master mind” group of four or five people with whom you can openly discuss ideas in a nonjudgmental way.
7. Develop yourself as a resource for others by networking. Find out who does what, when, and for whom. You may find excellent contacts for your future needs and for the needs of others you meet.
8. Work for balance in your life goals: family, financial, professional, social, spiritual, recreational.
9.Accept personal responsibility for your own growth; no one can do it for you. What you do today will determine your future.
10. Do not be afraid of failing at something. You can learn and change as a result of it.
11. The most difficult projects are opportunities for your biggest successes just as the most difficult people could become your strongest allies.
12.  Be hungry for what life has to offer and go for it, decide what you really want to do-then do it..
13. Find a nonjudgmental mentor who will help you by providing feedback, suggestions, challenges and support.
14. Learn from the errors you see others make as well as from their successes.
15. Fill your mind with positive ideas, thoughts and inspirations and you will have no room left for the negative.
16. Trade jobs with someone so you gain additional experience.
17. Ask for and accept lateral moves in the organization so you learn more about the entire operation.
18. Do more than your “self doubts” say you can.
19. Have confidence that you can get through and learn from anything and everything you experience.
20. Reward yourself with a treat when you have completed a learning objective.
21. Keep a daily journal, recording your thoughts, ideas, feelings and personal growth progress.
22. Ask questions, listen, then ask more questions. You will learn as well as help others learn.
23. Read some positive thoughts on how to continue your self development and then apply them in your own life.
24. Do things with someone you respect. They will be supportive of you and you will learn from interacting with them.
25. Seek new information on projects for which you have responsibility. Look for new “ah ha” ideas all the time.
26. Challenge yourself to learn something new every day.
27. Remain flexible and constantly adaptable.
30. Be open to others and sincerely interested in them. You can learn from everyone you meet.
31. Mentally rehearse a new skill. Your subconscious does not know the difference between actual practice and mental rehearsal.
32. Keep a record of what you accomplished the previous day(s)/week. If you did not accomplish as much as you wanted, it gives you extra incentive to do better in the next time period.
33. Make notes of the questions you want answered. Then as the answers come to you, jot them down next to the question.
34. Work on overcoming personal, nonproductive habits; for example: overeating, smoking, gossip.
35. Keep an “Idea File” ring binder or notebook in which you record all new ideas. At least once a week in a standing appointment with yourself, review your ideas.
36. Take classes to stay current in your field of expertise. Read some news or join the forum. The world is changing rapidly and you must learn to manage change to avoid obsolescence. The way Will Rogers put this was that “Even if you are on the right track, if you just sit there you will get run over.”
37. Never look back to the past-you only can control your actions in this instant, so what should you be doing right now?
38. Learn from “other people’s experience” rather then having to try everything for yourself. It shortens the time needed to learn.
39. Dealing with a problem helps you learn patience and strengthens your management skills; it is good mental exercise.
40. Analyze, in a non-judgmental way, mistakes in which you were involved. It will help you to prevent these in the future.
41. Reward yourself again when you catch yourself working on the most important priorities.
42. Never say something can’t or won’t be done. Keep looking for ways to do it.
43. After attending a seminar, report to your boss or other people in your organization, what the most important things are that you learned from the program.
44. For all learning experiences, whether it is reading, seeing, thinking or attending, apply the R squared, A squared formula: Recognize, Relate, Assimilate, and Apply. These actions will help you grow in the direction of your goals.
45. Eliminate one time waster a week from your life.
46. Read a newspaper or read a minimum of one chapter of a book a day or read a minimum of one book a month, just read if you have time..

Remember we all have the same 24 hours in a day. Learn from those people who get more done than you do. Perhaps you can find a way to improve what you are doing. Don’t reinvent the wheels, identify some “models” and observe their style and actions, do not copy them but learn from their experiences.~~Jhmenorjr..

You can accelerate your Learning Powers by Using Subliminal Learning

“Dictionary.com defines Subliminial  as existing or operating below the threshold of consciousness; being or employing stimuli insufficiently intense to produce a discrete sensation but often being or designed to be intense enough to influence the mental processes or the behavior of the individual: a subliminal stimulus; subliminal advertising.

Subliminal learning is the use of techniques that allow people to learn even without any conscious effort at all. It does this by exposing one to stimulus they are not or barely aware of – images that flash on the screen for barely perceptible moments, words played over and over again at a volume just above the hearing threshold, or other such stimulus. The discovery of such methods has aroused the excitement of many people because of its potential to boost the learning process and make acquiring new skills a lot more painless and effective.

The possibilities are definitely boundless. Just imagine. If this were true, you would be able to learn new things without having to buckle down and do the dirty work. For example, it has been argued that learning a language is theoretically possible using subliminal techniques – no need for books, teachers, and other learning implements, except for your subliminal learning equipment. You also won’t have to lose time to learn tedious language lessons. You could have your subliminal equipment on while you do other stuffs – and in some programs – even while you sleep.

Some common applications of subliminal learning include new languages, vocabulary skills, music, and even behavior modification programs.

It may seem ridiculous at first, but once you get a good grasp of the theories of learning – plus the potential and limitations of subliminal learning – you will find out that it really isn’t implausible after all. For example, there are actually things you do every day that you learn even if you don’t expend any conscious effort to do so.

Ever wondered how a song got stuck in your head even if you hated the song and tried your best not to pay attention to it? Somehow, the meaty chorus of the song finds its way into your subconscious and never leaves, doesn’t it?

What about words? Haven’t you wondered how a certain word came into your vocabulary even though you never remembered trying to memorize the word or use it purposefully? You probably heard the word somewhere – maybe at work, or from your friends, or even from the TV or the radio, and suddenly, poof, it’s made permanent residence in your head – without your notice.

Now, looking at these examples, people have begun to wonder about the possibilities if we could push the envelop and take advantage of this particular quirk in one’s learning process to somehow “accelerate” the rate of learning among students. Thus was born the wonders of subliminal learning.

Scientists have been digging hard and thorough on the subject of subliminal learning. Although it is theoretically possible to have such techniques do much for accelerated learning, there will always be skeptics who look for empirical proof from scientific studies before even considering subliminal learning. Little by little, these scientists have come to learn more about how we process and store knowledge, and are receiving heartening results from their studies on subliminal learning.

On a small scale, they are convinced that some skills can be learned through subliminal learning – especially those that are not “high-process” data such as patterns, words, numbers, and other easy visual data. Other skills such as languages and mathematics are “high-process” skills that require full attention and thought when performed. However, learning these skills is still beneficial when learned in conjunction with subliminal learning.

Why Social Media Marketing?

Author:Jaime H. Menor Jr.

Why Social Media Marketing? The answer is very simple: It’s About Time to Go Social. Organization need to change their marketing strategies to incorporate new forms of technology and leverage trends for business growth.  If you’re wondering if social media marketing is right for your business, OF COURSE SOCIAL MEDIA is for everyone, because it’s a great way to drive repeat business and to attract new customers. Everybody knows that even the smallest business nowadays have adopted social media into their campaigns in order to reach a broader audience and better connect with clients.  Come to think of it, if you’re a business owner, chances are you’ve already considered using social media to help get the word out about your business.  As more interest is shown in these platforms, it will be crucial to develop a marketing plan that will use social networks effectively and maximize potential benefits.  So I have here three (3) reasons why social media marketing is needed to be incorporated in your marketing plan.

  1. Social Media are everywhere.

Data released by one of the world’s largest research companies GfK showed that smartphone take-up rate in the Philippines reached to more than 146 percent, faster than Thailand’s 140 percent, Vietnam’s 118 percent and Indonesia’s 30 percent.  The benefit of the increased presence of mobile activity in our daily lives is huge for small businesses. Every major social network (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Kakaotalk, Wechat, Instagrams etc.) offer free mobile apps that let business owner manage their presence on-the-go. Smartphone users and more and more businesses are offering mobile-friendly experiences by providing free apps, these apps let customers connect to their favorite sites wherever they are. For a site like Facebook, Twitter, 60% of its users is in my estimate connected via their smartphones, tablets, or other mobile devices. These users aren’t just sharing updates from their daily activities, they are also searching for businesses, products, and services, and connecting with brands through their social channels. If your business is running late when it comes to making your content “mobile-friendly,” social media can be an easy and cost-effective first step to marketing in the digital age. Plus, it can improve the chances of your business getting found when someone is searching for a place to eat or a product to buy, while on-the-go

  1. Social Media create Customer Engagement

Social media is perfect for customer engagement, providing customer service is likely already a top priority for all l business, with the two-way communication that social media provides, it also offers a unique opportunity to step up your customer service game and provide instant gratification to your target audience. This will allow you to showcase just how much you care about providing a memorable experience and will ensure that no customer inquiry goes unnoticed. And by monitoring social media for customer feedback and offering a response, you can drive real business results. Customer service through social media is quickly becoming an expectation of consumers. If customers are already searching for you on Facebook and not finding your business—you may be missing opportunities to win new customers.

  1. Social media sites are free

As the saying goes “The best things in life are free” There is a catch in that when we talk of Social Media Site.  Because getting started on social media is completely free Facebook,  Google+, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and LinkedIn offer free accounts to users and businesses and signing up won’t require anything more than an email address or cell phone number.  They do offer additional services or premium accounts with features that are targeted at more advanced users, but for the purposes of getting started, there’s no upfront cost for most of them.

Words to ponder:

“Social networking websites allow individuals to interact with one another and build relationships. It has become a platform that is easily accessible to anyone with internet access. For organizations it fosters customer engagement through increased communication.” ~Jhmenor~
